New stock items

I have been busy buying lots of new items and they are being loaded on to the website over the next few days.

Pictured is a tall Ombrelles vase by ,Le Verre Francais, for , Charles Schneider.

Also added is a really unusual piece by ,Emile Galle. A shallow freeform dish with cameo to 2 sides. The design is thistles. Made about 1904 it is also signed with the Galle star mourning signature.

Increasing interest in Arts and Crafts

I was very  interested to see this morning that a very small copper Arts & Crafts copper mirror made by the Keswick School of Industrial Arts made almost £700 at auction. The KSIA was established in the Lake District in 1884 by Canon Rawnsley and his wife Edith. The aim of the School was to find remunerative employment for men by teaching them metalwork, carving, embroidery etc. In 1894 the school moved into a purpose built workshop in Keswick and the motto’The loving eye and patient hand should work with joy and bless this land’ was on the front of the building.
