Preparations are underway for the Olympia International Fine Art and Antiques Fair in London from 7 – 17 June. I feel that I travel a long way to take part in the fair but I understand that a dealer from Tasmania will be exhibiting this year. I am always amazed at the variety and range of items at the fair.
I have spent many weeks preparing for the fair and travelling widely searching for beautiful and rare items. I will be showing for the first time at the fair several pieces of cameo glass including a very rare Gallé ‘egg’. The bottom half of the piece is decorated with a landscape and the top half has 3 fire polished butterflies. The technical detail to creating such a beautiful piece is great and such items are very rare and much sought after.
Art Deco sculpture is very popular with several films based on the period due to be released this year. I will be showing a stunning art deco bronze figure by Maurice Giraud Riviere – Ball Dancer along with several pieces by Josef Lorenzl . Art Deco items are particularly strong at auction and a recent sale at Christies in South Kensington saw Art Deco sculptures making record prices.
